The attached video was done to teach physicians-in-training a method to perform scleral buclking surgery.  It does contain much graphic detail (blood, etc.).  Please be forewarned. 

Unlike what is commonly assumed, the eye is never removed to have surgery performed on it - removing the eye would render it useless - there are over 2 million nerve connections between the eye and the brain; instead, we work around the muscles of the eye to get the job done.
